​Clarity Life Balance builds on the legacy of its founder, Dr. Ann Childers, who is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. A Portland-area native, Dr. Childers has served the Oregon community for 23 years after her retirement from the US Air Force with the rank of Major. Dr. Childers founded Life Balance Northwest in 2009 with a philosophy of providing holistic care that recognized such factors as proper sleep and nutrition in a patient’s mental wellness. Dr. Childers was committed to providing patient care that is patient-centric, accessible and affordable.  In October 2022, Dr. Childers partnered with Clarity Squared Behavioral, Inc. which serves as the Management Service Organization for Life Balance and other behavioral health practices in several states. This alliance has enabled Life Balance to serve its patients with greater efficiency and to grow to meet the rapidly expanding demand for mental health services in Oregon. Life Balance Northwest changed its name to Clarity Life Balance in 2023 to recognize its position as part of Clarity Family of Practices.​

Dr. Childers retired from direct patient care in October 2023 for health reasons. Her successor, Dr. Karun Gogna, shares her philosophy and commitment to patient care. Dr. Gogna is a Board-certified Psychiatrist, a graduate of UC Irvine Medical School and USC Psychiatric Residency. He is licensed in both Oregon and California.  He currently serves as Medical Director for California for Clarity Squared Behavioral, Inc and is in private practice as well.  His areas of special interest include pharmacology, med management, mood and anxiety disorders and psychotic illnesses. He is also a firm believer in collaborative care that integrates mental with physical healthcare. ​
​Clarity Life Balance is expanding with the recruitment of four highly experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. This will enable us to greatly increase our availability to serve the community throughout Oregon with greater accessibility and expanded hours and services.
